Discussion:
Introduction:
-Hand out an Easter egg to everyone
-Tell them it is a present
-Have everyone open their egg at the same time
-What is wrong with your egg? Aren’t you so excited about the present I gave you?
-You are not excited, but I know a story in the Bible about some ladies that were excited when they found nothing-on Easter morning.
Easter Story
-It had been a rough few days for Jesus friends.
-Jesus had been through a lot
-Arrested
-Whipped
-Crown of thorns
-Nailed to the cross
-On Easter morning some of Jesus friends went to the tomb where Jesus body was.
-The tomb was covered with a big stone –impossible to move.
-An angel appeared to Jesus friends. He moved the stone.
-At first Jesus friends were upset when they found nothing.
-The angel said, “Jesus is not here because He is alive. -He has risen>
-They were excited they had found nothing.
A. What is so important about Jesus being alive?
-It means Jesus won.
-Jesus beat death and sin, and the devil.
-We have victory over death and sin and the devil.
Conclusion:
-Who would have ever thought you would like to be a fireman, or a policeman, or a lifeguard?
-It would be exciting to rescue people from dangerous situations.
-Show the different rescue equipment.
-Show a cross etc…(from early) These were all parts of Jesus’ rescue equipment.
-Jesus rescued everyone one of us from death. (The penalty to life without God is death)
-Jesus rescued every one of us from the punishment of our sin. (The penalty of sin is death)
-Jesus took on our punishment, our suffering.
-We are free to live on earth and in heaven forever because of what Jesus did for us.
