Topic: Praise And Worship

Verse: I will praise the Lord with my whole heart . . . in the congregation. Psalm 111:1

Props:

Rope
Scissors

Instructions:

Introduction: Tug-Of-War

-Invite 2 people to come up to the front to play a game (little girls, large boy)
-Put a chair in the center front
-Have the players stand on each side of the chair holding onto the end of the rope
-Explain that we are going to have a tug- of-war, and the first person to cross the chair is the loser
-Ask all the kids who will win?
-Since it is not fair pick some more players 4 more children – 1 big one – 3 little ones
-Put 1 little kid closest to the chair on each side
-Put the big kid on the team that already has the big kid, and put the other little kid on the team with all little kids.
-Ask all the kids who do you think is going to win? The right or the left?
-Are you ready? When I say, “go” we will start.
-On your mark, get set, --- Oh I forgot something--------
-Pull out a pair of scissors and cut the rope between the 2 big kids, so the only person left is the one little kid on the one team.
-Now – On your mark, get set, “go”.
-The game should last only a short time. The audience should be yelling –that’s not fair.

Discussion:

-How many of you think that wasn’t fair?
-Why did this side lose?
-They were not pulling together, they were separated from each other
-They didn’t work together, so they didn’t win.

Together in Unity
-This reminds me of something important
-There are a lot of areas in life that we need to work together-join together.
-One of them is when we sing and worship God
-The Bible teaches us something very important about Worship

Our Worship To God is a Weapon

-What is a weapon?
-Something to attack with
-Something to protect you
-Who do you think you would attach with worship?
-From whom do you think worship could protect you?

Bible Examples:

-King Jephsophat – The enemy was about to attack him and all his people. What did God tell him to do – Worship Him with a loud noise. Together in unity, they sang, danced, played instruments. The enemy was defeated.

-Joshua and the Battle of Jericho – Joshua was trying to win over the city of Jericho. God told them to march around the city. On their last time around the city they played all their instruments together in unity, the wall fell down.

-Paul and Silas - They were thrown in jail for preaching the Gospel. In the midnight hour (in the middle of darkness, loneliness, hurt, sadness), they worshipped God with all their heart together in unity. The Bible says the place where they were was shaken by the power of God and they were set free.

Conclusion: God wants to do powerful things in Kidz Club. We haven’t even had a taste of what God wants to do in our lives. First, we must come together in unity when we worship God.
