Props:
Make 9 sticks of dynamite out of toilet paper rolls.
Label each one with one of the gifts of the spirit.
Bind 6 helpers in a light chain that is easy to break (paper chain).
Label each of the chains: sickness, sin, addictions, death, and bad habits, fear
Instructions:
Discussion:
I. As Christians, we face a supernatural enemy.
A. The devil and his helpers are spirit beings, and we cannot beat them with natural weapons (Ephesians 6:10-12).
1. The devil is a spirit.
2. The trouble he causes comes from the spirit world.
B. The devil binds people with sickness, sin, death, addictions, bad habits, and fear.
(Have 6 helpers come up and bind them in the chains.)
C. Jesus set people free by the power of the Holy Spirit . Read Acts 10:38
1. Jesus was anointed with power
2. He did supernatural works to set people free.
3. He had seven of these sticks of dynamite. (Not Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues) (a) prophecy, (b) discerning of spirits, (c) gifts of healing, (d) working of miracles, (e) word of wisdom, (f) word of knowledge, (g) gift of faith
II. Jesus gave us the same supernatural power in the Holy Spirit. Read Acts 1:8
A. Jesus gave His Church nine sticks of dynamite to use in destroying the works of the devil.
B. The church received these Gifts on the Day of Pentecost when they received the Holy Spirit.
C. As believers in a church, we have all nine of these Gifts. (Name the nine gifts again)
III. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit destroy the works of Satan and set people free.
A. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from sin.
(Place the 9 sticks of dynamite on the chain marked "sin" and break it.)
B. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from sickness.
(Break the chain with the Gifts of Healing stick.)
C. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from addictions
(Use the Working of Miracles to break this chain)
D. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from death.
(Use the Gift of Faith stick to break this chain)
E. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from bad habits.
(Use the Word of Knowledge stick)
F. The Gifts of the Spirit set people free from fear
(Use the Prophecy stick to break this chain)
Closing: The Holy Spirit still does these works through Jesus' church today. Pray that the children will become more sensitive to the works of the Holy Spirit.
