Props:
2 boxes wrapped with keys in each box
label each box: Diverse kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy
2 nickels and 1 dime
Instructions:
Discussion:
I. The Lord has given us 3 gifts of inspiration to His Church.
(Hold up the 3 packages)
A. A gift of inspiration is a special ability from God that helps us to say something important.
B. Christians must realize that speaking Gods Word is very powerful. Read Proverbs 18:21.
C. Word of God is like keys that unlock doors.
1. The Roman Centurion knew that his servant would be healed if Jesus would only speak the Word.
2. God created the world with his Word. (Hebrews 11:3)
II. The three Gifts of Inspiration are supernatural gifts.
(Hold up the 3 packages again)
A. A supernatural gift enables us to do something we could never do on our won.
B. When a believer speaks in different kinds of tongues, he speaks in a language he as never learned. (Unwrap the appropriate package)
1. His mind does not know what he is speaking.
2. He speaks in a real language.
C. When someone uses interpretation of Tongues, he is able to tell what was spoken in tongues though he does not know the language.
(Unwrap the appropriate package)
D. When a Christian prophesies, he is delivering a message from God in the language that will help people. (Unwrap the 3rd package)
III. The Gifts of Inspiration is like keys that unlock doors to Gods blessing.
A. Speaking with tongues (unwrap the key) lets us talk with God about things we don’t yet understand about His will and purpose (1 Corinthians 14:2)
1. It can also be used to deliver a message from the Holy Spirit to the church.
2. When we speak with tongues, our minds cannot limit our thoughts about the bigness and goodness of Gods plan.
B. When a Christian speaks in tongues during a service where the entire congregation can hear; this is called a message in tongues.
1. The message in tongues should not be given without the approval of the leader of the service.
2. There should be no more than three of these messages in a service.
3. Each message should be interpreted so that the people who are present can now what was said.
C. The interpretation of Tongues should always agree with Gods Word.
D. According to the Bible, a message in tongues and the interpretation have the same effect as a prophecy.
(Hold up 2 nickels and the dime)
1. 2 nickels equal ten cents, but the amount is given in 2 coins.
2. Tongues and interpretation equal prophesy.
E. These gifts are keys (hold up the keys) that unlock the things of God and help us to do Gods work in the earth.
