Verse: …Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil… Acts 10:38
Props:
9 boxes wrapped in paper labeled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Also make a sign that says Jesus that a child can where around his neck.
Instructions:
Discussion:
I. Jesus received the power to heal the sick when He was baptized in the Jordan River.
A. The Holy Spirit came on Jesus in the form of a dove when He rose up out of the water.
B. Jesus came to this earth without power as the Son of God
1. Though He was Gods Son, He laid aside His God-like powers when he became a man.
2. He made Himself of no reputation, which means that He emptied Himself.
C. The Holy Spirit gave Jesus the Gifts of Healing and all of the other spiritual gifts that He operates in (John 3:34-35).
(Stack the 9 boxes. Select a child to come up to play Jesus - give him the neck tag)
1. Jesus had all the Holy Spirits power in His ministry.
(Hand the child one box at a time- actually Jesus did not operate in the gift of tongues or interpretation)
2. Jesus did no miracles or healing until He received the Holy Spirit’s power.
II. Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit to heal the sick (Acts 10:38).
(Hold of the box that says gifts of healing)
A. Sickness and disease come from the devil because they oppress people.
B. Jesus used the gift of healing many times in His ministry.
1. Jesus raised Jairuss daughter from the dead.
2. Jesus made blind men to see again.
3. Jesus healed the lepers.
4. Jesus healed a withered hand.
5 Jesus healed the lame (paralytic).
III. The Holy Spirit empowers believers with the Gifts of healing today.
(Give one of the boxes to different children in the class to hold)
A. The apostle Paul was empowered with the Gifts of Healing. Read Acts 19:11-12
B. Anyone who is a Holy Spirit-empowered believer can lay hands of the sick.
1. Read Mark 16:17-18
2. The Bible says that when a believer lays hands on sick and prays, the sick person will get better.
