The Holy Spirit Will Take The Chicken Out Of You

Verse: …You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you… Acts 1:8
Props:
rubber chicken
2 clear plastic cups
magic marker
pitcher of water
Instructions:
Punch holes in one cup and label it sin. Put about 1 inch of water in the other cup and label it Jesus. Put rubber chicken under shirt.
Discussion:
I. Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
A. Cup labeled sin.
1. Represents someone who has not made a decision to follow Jesus.
2. His heart is full of sin.
3. Even if the Holy Spirit filled this person he could not receive it.
(Put water into the cup)
B. Cup labeled Jesus
1. Represents someone who has made a decision to serve Jesus.
2. This person is born again, but is not filled with the Holy Spirit.
3. When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you are filled and overflowing with the Holy Spirits power.
(Pour water in to demonstrate being filled with the Holy Spirit.)
C. Gods will is for all of us to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can continue to live for Jesus and so we can operate in the power of the Holy Spirit.
II. The Holy Spirit will take the “chicken” out of you.
A. Before you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you don’t have the power you need to be an effective witness. (Acts 1:8)
1. You might want to tell someone about Jesus, but you might be too afraid to.
(Pull out the chicken)
2. When we receive the Holy Spirit we receive power. Power to do what-Read Acts 1:8
B. Even after you are filled with the Holy Spirit the “chicken” will try to come back on you.
1. The best way to get rid of the “chicken” is to pray in tongues.
