Disciples need to learn more about God - #4
-If we are going to be a disciple we need to take time to learn more about God.
-Jesus, God's Son even took time to learn about God.
Story
-When Jesus was about 12 years old, He and His family traveled to Jerusalem for a special celebration feast. There were lots of people there, including lots of his cousins, aunts and uncles.
-After the feast everyone headed home.
-Now back in those days, they didn't fly, ride a train or a bus. They walked everywhere.
-Mary and Joseph thought Jesus was walking with his cousins.
-They soon discovered Jesus was not with them.
-They got worried-where could Jesus be?
-Mary and Joseph turned around and went back to Jerusalem to look for Jesus.
-They looked everywhere for him - the place they stayed, their friend's house, the playground, the restaurant.
(Today I hid a picture of Jesus in this room - see if you can find it)
-Soon the found Jesus in the temple teaching others about God.
-Jesus was answering people's questions including the rabbi or priest questions.
-Why do you think Jesus could answer all those questions - because He had taken the time to learn about God.
-How do you think Jesus learned about God?
-How can we learn about God?
-Why is it important to learn about God?
-Jesus not only took time to learn about God, He took time to learn God’s Word.
-How can learning about God's Word help us?
Conclusion: There are many good reasons why we should learn about God’s Word. The best reason is because that is what Jesus did. IF we are going to be a follower of Jesus then we need to do the same things as Jesus did.
