Introduction: (Give away candy to the kids that know the answers)

What have we been talking about?
What is a conflict? Where do conflicts start?
What are some bad ways people deal with conflicts?
What are some good ways people deal with conflicts?
The way we deal with conflicts is all about what? (Choices we make)
What are the 2 different ways people make choices? (My-Way, Wise-Way)

-Today we are going to talk a little more about one of the bad ways we deal with Conflicts --- BLAMING OTHERS

-This is what happens when we blame others:

BAD CHOICE + BLAME OTHERS = DOUBLE TROUBLE

Bad choice
You just finish gym class. You are in line at the water fountain for a drink. The mean class bully tries to bud in front of you in line. You tell them to get lost and get to the end of the line. They don’t listen to you so; you push them as hard as possible. The bully falls to the ground and their glasses smash.

Blame Others
The bully goes to the teacher and tells the teacher on you. At first you say that someone else pushed you. Your teacher doesn’t believe you. Then you you’re your teacher that they budded in line. He made me push him. I didn’t have a choice.

Double Trouble
Now you are in trouble for pushing the mean bully and you are in trouble for the lie you told your teacher and the way you talked to your teacher.

Better Solution
There was nothing wrong with telling the kid to get lost when he tried to bud in line, however when they refused what would have been a better way to deal with the conflict.

GET HELP – Get the teacher and explain to the teacher what happened and let them deal with the situation.

Bible Story AARON
-Aaron worked with Moses
-Moses was shy so Aaron did a lot of talking for Moses
-Go told Moses to go up a mountain one day and pray. God was going to five Moses the 10 Commandments.
-Moses left all God’s people with Aaron
-Moses didn’t come down for a long time – really long time
-The people got bored.
-They were no TV’s or radios or movies so the people decided to build a huge golden calf to worship. Then they would have the biggest and best party of their life.
-The people asked Aaron if that was okay. He said it was. (Knowing it would displease God)
-He helped the people gather all gold and precious metals they could find.
-He helped the people build the golden calf.
-Then they threw the biggest party ever.
-Eventually Moses came down from the mountain and found their party.
-He was very upset.
-He asked Aaron what happened and Aaron blamed it on all the people (even though he was the leader and even though he helped)
-More than 3,000 men died that day because of the sin and disobedience. Many others never entered the land God had promised them.

Conclusion:
Aaron who was responsible for the people’s actions because he was in charge of them used the BLAME GAME to deal with the situation. He blamed what had happened on everyone else instead of taking responsibility.

Proverbs 28:13 “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

Pledge: I promise I will do my best not to blame others for the bad things I do. I will take responsibility when I do something wrong. I will do my best to deal with conflicts in the right way.
