Discussion:
Introduction :
Today I am going to make a peanut butter sandwich.
You are going to tell me exactly what to do and I will do it.
(Make it funny and finally make the sandwich)
Helping others to learn about God’s love is our responsibility.
-2 Timothy 4:2-4 says “Preach the good news. Be ready at all times, and tell people what they need to do.”
-We need to be ready to tell others about God.
-We need to show others how to walk, talk and live like Jesus.
-Say “I’m going to show others how to walk, talk and live like Jesus.
-When you tell others about Jesus you need to tell them step-by step, just like you told me how to make the sandwich.
-You can use the 4 Most Important Things.
-What are some other ways you could tell others about Jesus.
“I am the light of the world.” And “You are the light of the world.”
-Hold up various lighting devices.
-What do all these things have in common?
-What do lights do for us?
-Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” What does it mean?
-People who live without Jesus live in darkness.
-Darkness-sin, hopelessness
-Jesus, the light came to give people hope, and life.
-Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.”
-What does that mean?
-When we have Jesus in our life we have hope and direction.
-We can help the world have the same hope and direction.
-What are some ways we can be light?
Sharing the light
-Jesus is the light of the world. He healed, cared and helped everyone He could. He shared His Fathers love with everyone.
-Most people decided to love Jesus.
-Some people decided not to love Jesus.
-Today I am going to make one glass to represent those who love Jesus and one glass to represent those who do not love Jesus.
-In the first glass I am going to mix yeast and hydrogen peroxide.
-This makes oxygen gas.
-In the second glass I am going to mix vinegar and baking soda.
-This makes carbon dioxide gas.
-Now I am going to light this strip of paper. It represents the light of Jesus-this represents what is inside of every Christian.
-I am going to put it in the glass with vinegar and baking soda.
-This glass represents those who decide not to love Jesus.
-They try to put out the light.
-Now I am going to put it in the glass with the oxygen gas.
-This glass represents those who love Jesus, and follow Jesus.
-They make the light burn bright.
Conclusion
-We need to decide which glass we are going to be like.
-Those who love Jesus.
-Those who do not love Jesus.
-I you decide to love Jesus then you have the light of Jesus in your heart and you can do anything.
-Before Jesus went to heaven to be with His Father He commanded His disciple “Go in to all the world and preach the good news.”
-12 men preached to the whole known world (250 million people) in just 35 years.
-They had no TV’s, radios, no computers
-There were no airplanes, trains or cars.
Living for Jesus can be an adventure if you want it to be!!!!!
