Discussion:

1. Introduction
-Over the last several weeks we have been talking about walking and talking and living the way Jesus wants us to.
-When we decide to live for Jesus our life needs to be different than those around us.
-We need to make right choices
-We need to use our mouths to glorify God
-We need to make good decisions about our life.
-We need to do everything that God wants us to do with our life.

2. Challenge
-Today I want to challenge you to do something that seems very difficult.
-Sometimes it is difficult to make good choices when everyone around us is making bad ones.
-Hand out a piece of paper and a pencil to everyone
-Challenge: to connect all the dots by drawing 4 straight lines without lifting up your pencils.
-People who think they know how can come to the dry erase board and try.

(Show how to connect the dots)

If you are going to be successful in your life you have to go outside of the box.

3. Get Out of the “Box” People Put You In
-This box represents people and things that hold us back for reaching our potential and doing the things that Jesus wants us to do
-Parents
-Teachers
-Peers
-Community members and leaders
-Thoughts like:
-You’ll never graduate from high school.
-You never move out of this neighborhood.
-You’ll never stay married more a year.
-You’ll never finish college.
-You’ll never amount to anything.

4.God made you special and has a special plan for your life.

-Have children compare their hand to the hand of the person sitting next to them.
-What is the same? What is different?

(Hold up apples)

-What are these?
-What is different about them?
-Cut them in half.
-What is the same about them?

-God created all of us.
-We are all the same because:
-Our physical bodies are made similar – 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 eyes, 1 nose
-We all have the same need for God in our lives.
-We all have a desire to succeed.
-We are all different because:
-We look different
-Our gifts and talents are different.
-We all want to do different things with our lives.

-The differences are what make us special.
-Psalm 139:13-14 “ For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made”
-You are God’s artwork.
-Just like not 2 apples are alike, not 2 snowflakes, none of us are exactly alike.

5. God wants you to be successful.
-Your Success is determined by the choices you make in your life.
-Success is measured by your end not the beginning
-It is like a day.
-If you wake up and have a great morning but the rest of the day is terrible. You would say you had a bad day.
-If the beginning and end of your day were good, you would say, “I had a great day.”

-Who likes Jell-O?
-The beginning of Jell-O looks like this.

(Hold up watery Jell-O)

-Who would like your bowl of Jell-O to look like this?
-It is a good beginning to Jell-O, but it is not a good ending.
-If I served watery Jell-O one might say “I was unsuccessful in making Jell-O.”
- If this Jell-O is going to be good Jell-O what do we have to do?

(Hold up Jell-O)

- This is successful Jell-O.

6. Conclusion:
-God is wants all of us to be successful and do everything that he has planned for our life.
-First we need to decide to live for Jesus in order to be truly successful.
-Then we need to decide to walk, talk, and live the way Jesus wants us to.
-We need to realize that God made us special.
-We should not listen to what other people say about us.
-We should only listen to and obey what God says about us.

7.Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.
