Introduction:
-Choose a volunteer to leave the room. Send them with a helper out by the stairs.
-Draw 3 lines with a ruler on the dry erase board and label them.
-Explain to the class that when the person comes in I am going to ask them to identify which line is the longest.
-Your job is to talk them into choosing line A, even though it is not the right answer.

Right Versus Popular
-Today we are going to talk about choosing what is right versus what is popular.
-What did our volunteer pick? (What is popular)
-Who likes to be popular?
-Who would do anything to be popular?
-If we are going to walk talk and live like Jesus we need to choose what is right not what is popular.
-You cannot live for Jesus and choose only what is popular.
-You will be pressured into sinning, and people will laugh at you for being a Christian.
The Story of Daniel
-Daniel was a young boy who was taken away from his family and taken to another land. (Kidnapped during a war)
-He was forced to work for a king who did not believe in Daniel’s God.
-Daniel grew up serving God.
-Everyday Daniel woke up and prayed. Daniel relies on God to get him through this difficult time in his life.
-The king grew to love Daniel because he was a hard worker, faithful, trustworthy.
-The king gave Daniel a very important job.
-The other workers of the king got jealous. They had been around much longer than Daniel and they did not get an important job.
-Everyone knew that Daniel loved God. So the evil king’s helpers came up with a plan.
-They wrote a rule and had the king sign it. The rule said, “No one is to pray to any God for thirty days. If they do they will be thrown in a den of hungry lions.
-Daniel heard the rule. He had a choice to make to do what was popular (not pray) or to do what was right (pray).
-Daniel chose what was right. He went home from work-up to his apartment, and knelt down to pray right beside the open window just as he had always done.
-The evil helpers of the king were watching Daniel and as soon has he knelt down to pray they went and arrested him.
-They took Daniel to the king. The king said he could not break the law, and so he would have to be thrown in the den of lions.
-The evil helpers threw Daniel in the lion’s den.
-The king was very upset because he loved Daniel. The king did not sleep all night.
-God sent angels to protect Daniel from the lions. The Bible says the angels shut the mouths of the hungry lions.
-In the morning the king went to check on Daniel.
-Daniel was still alive-it was a miracle! God had protected Daniel because he chose to do what was right.
-The king made a new law that said, “Everyone in my kingdom must worship the God of Daniel because He is the living God.”

Daniel chose what was right not what was popular.
