Elijah Calls On God

Once there was a king who hated God and hated anybody that loved God. His name was King Ahab. At the same time in history there lived a man named Elijah. Elijah loved God with all his heart. He spent his whole life living for God and doing exactly what God told Him to do. He taught people about God, and performed many miracles proving that God existed.
One day King Ahab and Elijah met. Of coarse King Ahab hated Elijah because he loved God. Elijah was so upset with King Ahab’s disbelief in God he finally made a very bold statement. Elijah said, “King Ahab as surely as God lives there shall be no rain or dew until I say.”
-The Bible says that it did not rain for 3 ˝ years. Why??
-The Bible says that Elijah was a man who prayed earnestly (really hard)
-Elijah prayed really hard that it would not rain because he wanted to prove to the king and the king’s country that God really existed.
-In other words Elijah called on God
-Whenever you call on God – What happens? (Hold up a telephone)
-GOD WILL ANSWER
-You will not get a busy signal, and you will not get a “no answer signal”
After 3 ˝ years of rain, thing were looking pretty bad. The rivers all dried up, no food was growing, everything was dying, and people were getting sick.
One day while Elijah was out working for God, he heard the Lord speak to him and say, “Go to King Ahab and tell him I will send rain.” Elijah obeyed God.
After all that has happened King Ahab still did not really believe in God and did not believe God would send rain.
Then Elijah did just what he had done three and a half years ago. He went up into the mountain and called on God to send the rain. What do you think happened? “GOD ANSWERED HIM”. Suddenly a tiny rain cloud appeared in the sky-the size of a hand. That was enough of a sign for Elijah.
The sky got darker and darker and darker and then it rained.
