-We are going to talk about another person who cried out to God.
-Jonah cried out to God when he was in trouble. We can cry out to God when we are in trouble and God will help us through our trouble.

-One day God told Jonah to go to a place called Nineveh and preach against their sin.
-Jonah did not want to go – maybe he was scared, -maybe he just did feel like going
-Instead he found a boat headed for a place called Tarshish.
-He bought a ticket and got on the boat.
-After a short time at sea the boat hit a really bad storm. It was very windy and it was raining and thundering.
-The crew on the boat were all scared. The started throwing cargo overboard so the boat wouldn’t be so heavy.
-Jonah was not afraid. He went into the lowest part of the boat (the most dangerous place to be during a storm) and slept.
-It didn’t matter what the crew did they did not think they could save the boat.
-So they decided to cast lots to see whose fault this storm was.
-The crew woke Jonah up. The crew casts lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.
-The crew said what have you done to cause this storm?
-Jonah explained that he believed in God and that God had asked him to do something but he had disobeyed God.
-Jonah told the crew to throw him overboard and then the storm would stop and their boat would be safe.
-The crew no knowing what else to do, threw Jonah overboard into the stormy sea.
-Jonah was in trouble. What would he do? He did not have a life jacket or a lifeboat.
-God had it all planned out.
-God sent a big fish to swallow Jonah. (Not a whale) Jonah could not breathe in the belly of a whale.
-It was disgusting inside the fished belly. It was slimy and smelly and dirty.
-While in the belly of the fish Jonah cried out to God, and what do you think God did?
-First Jonah (just like Sampson) told God he was sorry for not obeying. Second, Jonah cried out for help from God.
-God directed the fish to thaw Jonah up on the dry land. Jonah was safe.
-Then God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach-what do you think he did?

Close
-We all face times when we are in trouble. Sometimes it is our own fault we are in trouble. First we need to ask God’s forgiveness.
-It is also important for us to know we can call out to God when we are in trouble. He will always listen and he will always help us through the situation.
