Discussion:

Introduction: One of the ways in which we determine whether we are a wise person or an unwise person is by the words we say.

1. God gave us a mouth so that we could glorify Him.
A. Our mouths can give praise to God. (As you talk push a few pieces of candy out of the Boy’s mouth and give them to some kids)
B. Our mouths can be used to encourage other people (continue to push candy out of the mouth and hand it out to the kids)
C. Our mouths can boast in what the Lord has done and is doing for us. (Continue to hand out candy until everyone gets a piece)

2. We must be careful not to develop a garbage mouth.
A. A garbage mouth is a condition that affects many Christians.
B. Some people have type A garbage mouth. They complain about everything. They complain when things are bad. They complain when things are good. (Push garbage out of the boys mouth.)
C. Some people have type B garbage mouth. They use dirty language. They use curse words. They tell bad stories. (As you talk push more garbage out.) The Bible tells us to put off filthy language.
D. Some people have type C garbage mouth. They talk disrespectfully to authority; they talk back to their parents. They talk back to their teachers. (Continue to push garbage out of the boys mouth.)

3. Garbage mouth can be cured with Gods help.
A. We overcome evil with good. (Put candy back into the mouth of the boy from the front on the boys face). When we speak the scriptures, we destroy garbage mouth. The Word of God is more powerful than evil words.
B. The Bible says Gods Word is sweet like honey, and that we should keep God’s Word on our lips.

Closing: Have the children repeat a prayer after you, asking God to help them speak good things, rather than having a garbage mouth.
