Introduction – God has a lot of respect for the things He has created
a. God created the world and filled it with good things to be a home for Adam
i. Everything God made wad very good.
ii. God wanted the very best for Adam
b. God gave Adam the power to choose whether or not he would obey God.
i. He gave Adam the test of respect-He told Adam not to eat the fruit off a certain tree in the garden.
ii. God showed Adam respect by letting him choose what he was going to do.
c. God knew a head of time what Adam was going to do, but he gave Adam the ability to choose right from wrong.
d. Adam chose the wrong thing and so they had to pay the consequences – they got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, but more importantly they lost their relationship with God.
God gives us commands in his word, and he gives us the choice whether we aregoing to follow them.
e. If we follow them we are wise.
f. If we do not follow them we are unwise.

One of the commands God gives us is “do not steal.”
g. If you respect God and others you will not steal.
h. If your friend goes to the store and buys a candy bar for $0.50, it would be disrespectful of you to steal that candy bar from your friend.
i. If you go to the store and you see a toy you really want the best would be for you to save up your money and then go buy that toy.
j. Stealing shows disrespect towards others, and God.
k. Use CD, clothing, and jewelry for examples.

Stealing has a higher price than the store value.
l. Everything in a store has a price.
m. If you steal something there is a much high price you must pay.
n. First of all if you get caught by the store you could have to pay a high fine, go to jail, and do community service.
o. Whether or not the store caught you God would know.
i. Proverbs 10:29 – destruction will come to the workers of sin
ii. Romans 3:23 – the wages of sin is death
iii. 1 Corinthians 15:56 – the sting of sin is death
p. Choosing to disobey God leads to death.

Conclusion: When we choose to follow God we get life.
q. The Bible says when we follow God we get eternal life.
r. When we follow God He is with us and helps us with life on earth
