Topic: How To Be A Wise Christian
Verse: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Colossians 3:23
Props:
Game
You need:
3 girls
3 boys
Mini-marshmallows
Toothpick
Instructions:
Object: On “go” your team is going to work together to build a high tower out of these toothpick and mini-marshmallows. When I blow the whistle whoever has the tallest tower is the winning team. But the tower must stand up on it’s own.
Discussion:
Introduction:
-The Bible talks about a little animal that works really hard.
-What do you think that animal is?
-It is an ant (show ants in a jar).
-The Bible tells us that we can learn how to be wise from an ant.
-What do you think that means? What do ants do that are so wise?
-Ants work hard – All summer long they work gathering up seeds and food for the fall.
-Nobody has to constantly tell them what to do. They are hard workers.
-God tells us if we want to be wise one of the things we have to do is work hard.
-What are some areas you need to work hard in
-School work
-Chores at home
-Helping others
-When you get a job-you should be the best and hardest worker
-The Bible says foolish people are lazy, but wise people are hard workers.
-Have the class watch what they are doing
-You could send a few other volunteers up to help.
-Blow the whistle and declare a winner.
-Hand out candy, and have one of the team members stay at the front.
-Ask the following questions;
1.Was it hard to build the tower?
2.What did you have to do to get it to stand up?
3.Did you want to quit when it was not working?
-Can you think of something in your life you have wanted to give up on because it was too hard?
Conclusion:
If you are going to be a wise person the very first thing you have to do is decide to live for Jesus. You cannot work for the Lord if you are not living for the Lord.
If we tried to live life all on our own we would mess everything up because our heart would want to do bad things.
If we decide to live for Jesus – Jesus forgives us when we do bad things, and helps us to do the right thing, and we get to live forever in heaven with Jesus.
