Introduction:
Today I brought along some problems that I know many of you have. The reason I know many of you have these problems is because I have asked you parents when I have visited them what problems you have so. . We could help fix them at Kidz Club.

Problem #1 – The coat and hat problem
-Most kids have a really hard time with their coat and hat. For some reason they are so hard to hand up and put away.
-Who can tell me where you usually put them?
-On the floor, the chair, the table, the lamp

Problem #2 - The dirty dish problem
-Who here eats on dishes?
-It seems that no one under the age of 21 or so likes to do dishes.
-It seems that nobody ever knows what to do with his or her dirty dishes.
-What do you do with your dirty dishes?
-Leave them in your room, on the floor, on the counter, in the TV room

Problem #3 – The dirty clothes problem
-Who here wears clothes everyday?
-How long have you been wearing clothes?
-It seems as if nobody know where their dirty clothes go.
-What do you do with your dirty clothes?
-Put them back in your drawer, under your bed, in the closest

Problem #4 – The Book bag Dilemma
-Who here takes a book bag to school everyday?
-Who hear has ever misplaced your book bag?
-You were sure your dog stole it, or your sister hid it.
-It seems that book bags end up everywhere except where they should.
-Under the bed, in the trunk of the car, at school with your homework

The Solution
-What if I told you today that I had a solution to all these problems you have while growing up?
-Who would want the solution to these problems?
-Supposed I invented a robot that would take care of all your needs including doing your homework.
-Imagine never having to do another dish, or pick up your dirty clothes, or do homework.

The Solutions To Another Problem
-I don’t have a solution to all the problems we just talked about, but did you know that you have a bigger problem in your life – It is SIN
-What is sin? (The bad things you do)
-Sin is a really big problem – the worst in the world.
-Sin keeps us from being friends with God
-Sin makes us feel sad and unhappy inside
-Sin keeps us away from heaven

-There is a solution to sin.
-The solution is Jesus
-Jesus tells us he will carry all our sins. It doesn’t matter what we have done or for how long we have done it.
-The Bible says, “He personally carried the load of all our sins in his own body when He died on the cross, so that we can be finished with sin, and live from now on for all that is good. For his wounds have healed ours.”
-Jesus is the great problem solver – He solves our sin problem, which is far worse than all the problems we talked about tonight.

Almost isn’t good enough – Lot’s Wife

A lot of people go to church and they think that they have the sin problem in their life cured and they think they have God’s peace in their life. They think – “I have peace in my heart – I go to church, my parents are Christians, I prayed and asked Jesus in my heart, I read my Bible.”

None of these things give you peace in your heart or cure the sin problem.

Having peace in your heart is all about the relationship you (nobody else) have with God.

Having peace in your heart is all about living for Jesus everyday of your life until the day you die.

Having peace in your heart is all about giving up your own plans and desires for your life and following God’s plan and God’s desires.

Many people are not willing to do this, and many people do not “make it” as a Christian.

Today I want to tell you a story about someone who didn’t make it. They almost made it but they didn’t. Who knows that almost isn’t good enough?

If you almost brush your teeth – did you brush your teeth?
If you almost passed grade four – did you pass grade four?
If you almost cleaned your room – did you clean your room?

Story:

This is a story about a lady in the Bible who almost made it but didn’t. The Bible doesn’t even tell us her name. However, Jesus considers her very important because in Luke 17: 32 Jesus says, “Remember Lot’s wife.”

Who thinks if Jesus tells us to remember someone then we ought to remember them? We can remember Lot’s wife as someone who almost made it but didn’t.

Lot and his wife set up their tent on a hill so it was facing the city of Sodom. Sodom was a city full of sin. Every day when the family woke up and walked out of the tent they saw Sodom. Then every night when they went in the tent, they saw Sodom.

Soon Lot and his family moved into Sodom. They were drawn into the city because they looked at it all the time. Sin works the same way with us. When we hang around sin it will rub off on us. We will find ourselves wanting to be a part of sin.

The sin in Sodom was so bad that God wanted to destroy the entire city. There was every kind of sin in Sodom, and God couldn’t even find ten people in the city who were living for Him.

One day God sent two angels to visit Lot and his family. The angels told Lot about God’s plan to destroy the city because of how bad the city was. The angels told Lot to quickly get his family together and leave the city so they could be spared from being destroyed. The angels helped them get out of the city and told them not to look back.

Lot’s plan was for his family was to escape to the city of Zoar. Lot arrived at Zoar – he entered Zoar, and just before his wife entered Zoar she looked back. Lot’s wife was destroyed on the spot because she looked back.

Lots wife almost made it to safety but she didn’t. Her old life, her old friends, and her possessions were more important to her than God’s plan for her life.

Conclusion:

God has a plan for every one of us. But we cannot almost decide to live for Jesus. Either you have or you haven’t decided to live for Jesus.

(Have kids who have decided raise their hands) That means that those of you who have decided live for Jesus- you do your best to walk, talk and live like him everyday – not just at Kidz Club or on Sunday.

Give opportunity for Kids to decide to live for Jesus
