Introduction:
Who remembers the name of the guy in the Bible we have been talking about?
Who remembers what we learned about Moses last week?

The important lesson we learned last week was that even when we blow it, God can still use us. We talked about how important it is to ask God to forgive us. When we do He not only forgives us but our sins disappear forever. We have a brand new start.

Moses had the opportunity to do something great. God was very sad about what was happening in Egypt with His people. Remember how they were held as slaves. God decided to use Moses to free the Hebrews from slavery. Who thinks that is a pretty big and important job?

Moses had to go talk to Pharaoh – the mean king in charge of the slaves. He was very scared but he obeyed God. God said that he would help him.

Egyptian Enters

Teacher: Who are you? I didn’t think I invited and special guests today. You look terrible.

Egyptian: I am running away from my country – terrible things have happened.

Teacher: What do you mean? Do you want to tell us about them?

Egyptian: Well, everything was going pretty good in our country. We have a leader who is building the greatest city in the world. He was using the Hebrew slaves to do it, so we didn’t even have to work hard. They were pretty good workers considering how badly we were treating them. Everything was going great until this guy Moses should up on the scene.

Moses grew up with Pharaoh. He should have been killed with all the other babies but someone decided to let him live. He has caused nothing but problems for us. He show up and says that God sent Him to make sure the Hebrews are freed.

Pharaoh just laughed at him. The next thing I heard was that he threw his stick down on the ground and it became a snake. This scared a few people standing around but not Pharaoh. He didn’t care. Moses said that God was going to make some terrible things happen to the Egyptians because of the slaves. Moses said they would keep happening until the Hebrew slaves were freed. Nobody really believed Moses. I mean what could a man do anyway.

Until . . . . . the next morning we woke up and went to get water – our water had turned to blood. It was disgusting. We couldn’t bath in it; we couldn’t cook or clean with it. We couldn’t even give our animals a drink. It upset Pharaoh but not enough to let the Hebrews free.

Then things happened like:

-There were frogs everywhere (in our shoes, cereal, beds)

-These disgusting bugs called gnats came and crawled all over everyone and every animal. We woke up and they were all over us. I still have nightmares about it.

-One day there were flies everywhere – all over our food and houses.

-This next thing was so gross, I thought for sure Pharaoh would let the slaves go after it. We all woke up with big sores all over our bodies. They were bleeding and oozing. All our animals had them too. The interesting thing was that none of these things affect the Hebrews at all. God kept them safe. The only people affected by these terrible things were the Egyptians.

-Pharaoh didn’t let the Hebrews go even after the sores.

-You would think the next day would have scared Pharaoh too. We woke up the next day and all our animals, even our pets, were dead. They got sick in the night and died – every single animal in the land belonging to an Egyptian.

-God sent locust (giant grasshoppers) to eat all the Egyptians crops. There were locust everywhere – they ate all our food.

-Whatever the locust didn’t eat was destroyed by hail.

-I can’t believe that Pharaoh still wouldn’t let the slaves go. They were just a bunch of tired people anyway. We could build the great city in peace.

-Anyways, I left when I heard about the next plague. It scared me too much. I know that God will do – He has done every thing else

-That’s how I ended up hear. I wandered into a cave in the countryside and now I am hear.

Teacher: Well, tell us what you heard the next plague was going to be.

Egyptian: My friend, who works for Pharaoh, told me that Moses came to Pharaoh and said that if he didn’t let all the slaves free then that night the oldest Egyptian boy from every household would be killed.

I know God will stick to His Word. He has so far. Pharaoh doesn’t believe in the Hebrew-God and so He thinks there is no god powerful enough to make this happen. I believe in the same God the Hebrews do, and I believe He is very powerful. I believe that we should obey Him.

Teacher: I am glad you ended up here. It was interesting to hear the story from you. You are right. It is important to obey God. I don’t think that if we disobey God today that he will send bugs and sores, but we should obey God with all our heart. When we do God is with us and He takes care of us. The Bible tells us that one of the ways we show our love to God is by obeying Him.
