Discussion:

1. Introduction:
-Who has decided to live for Jesus?
-When you live for Jesus should your life be the same or different?
-For the last 2 weeks we have talked about ways our lives should be different from those around us. Does anybody remember the 2 ways we have talked about so far?
-Honor God
-Respect Others
-Today we are going to talk about a third way our life should be different.
-It is We should always tell the truth (have the kid’s repeat – tell the truth)
-What does it mean to tell the truth?
-To be honest
-To keep your word when you promise to do something
-To say only what is true
-To have the courage to say what happened even when you might get in trouble for it.

(Towards the end of this talk someone should interrupt you with a package – The package should read – The World’s Deadliest Weapon)

-After the person delivers the box you should ask the boys and girls what they think is in the box. Should we open it? Who should open it?
-Put the box off to the side and we will open it later.

2. Ananias and Sapphira

(You could have 2 people act like Ananias and Sapphira)

-This story takes place after Jesus rose from the dead and went to heaven to live with His Father.
-The Christians were all like one big happy family. They all shared everything they had. No one needed anything. They watched out and helped each other.
-One day Ananias sold some of their land.
-He was supposed to give all the money he made from the land to the disciples and then they would divide it up according to who had need.
-Ananias was dishonest and kept part of the money for himself.
-He made it look like he was giving all his money but he really didn’t.
-He told Sapphira about his plan, but she was not there when he handed over the money.
-The disciple Peter knew right away what Ananias had done. He said, “How could you do such a thing? You have lied not to men but to God.”
-When Ananias heard these words he dropped over dead. Some young men carried him away to be buried.
-Later that day Sapphira came to the disciples. She did not know what had happened.
-Peter asked her, “Is this the price you and your husband got to for the land?”
-Sapphira lied saying, “Yes.”
-Peter said, “How can you lie also? Look the men that buried your husband are at the door. They will carry you out too.”
-At that moment Sapphira dropped dead.
-Great fear came over all the church. It was clear to them that God always expected His followers to tell the whole truth.

Conclusion:
-Before we end lets take a look at what is in this package.
-What do you think it is?
-Have someone open it.
-It is a tongue – a cow’s tongue
-Our tongue can be a deadly weapon or it can be the greatest gift in the world.
-Good things can come from our tongue or bad things
-Ananais and Sapphira allowed bad things to come from their tongue – They lied.
-When we let bad things like lies come from our tongues it displeases God.
-We can get ourselves in a lot of trouble by letting lies come from our tongue. Once we tell one lie we often tell another and another and another to cover up the other lies.
-If we are going to live for Jesus for Jesus we must decide to use our tongue right.
-We must decide to always be honest, no matter how hard it is.

Close in prayer.
