Teacher: Today we are going to have a special guest who is going to tell about a time when He had to follow God’s rules. My friend is very, very old. His name is Noah. When I count to three we are all going to call his name, and he will know to come. He is a little hard of hearing so you have to shout loudly. 1-2-3 NOAH
(Noah shouldn’t come)
Let’s try again. 1-2-3 NOAH
Send someone to go looking for him in the closet. Noah should come out, acting very old. He should be looking around like he is very confused. He can comment on the funny lights in the ceiling, and any other modern things he sees.
Teacher: Noah we are very glad you came to visit us a Kidz Club. I know you have a very important story to tell us today about a time when you had to obey God.
Noah: I do?! What story is that?
Teacher: The story about when you built the arc.
Noah: Oh Yes!
The story begins long, long, long time ago when I was just over 500 years old. I had a good wife and three sons. I had always loved God and always did my best to obey Him. Most of the people alive then hated God. They were very bad people. God decided that the only way to fix the problem on earth was to send a really bad flood –lots of rain- to destroy the earth. God chose to save my family because I loved him. We were to help him start the earth over.
First we had to build a huge, and I mean huge boat called and ark. God told me the exact measurements to use in building the ark and exactly what kind of wood to use. You know how you get instructions with things so you know how to put them together. Well, God gave me exact instructions. I knew if I messed up even a little the whole ark plan would fail.
The ark had 3 decks. Each deck was divided into rooms to hold all the different animals God was going to send. The strange thing was that God only had me put one door on the ark. When the ark was built we cover the whole thing inside and out with this sticky stuff to keep the water out.
All my neighbors and friends thought I was crazy. They made fun of me every day while I built the boat. Finally when I was six hundred and something the ark was done. It took about 100 years to build.
The God told me to bring my wife, my sons and their families on the ark. He told us to store food on the boat. Then one morning when we woke up all these animals were lined up at the door of the ark, waiting to get on. What a sight!! Elephants, tigers, frogs, monkeys, snakes, cows you name we loaded it.
Bang! God closed the door of the ark. The suddenly water poured out of the sky for the first time in history. (Use the rain stick) It rained for forty days and forty nights. Because we obeyed God, we were all safe and had lots of food to eat.
One day it stopped raining. The boat seemed so tiny when I looked out over the vast waters. It took months for the water to dry up. One day I sent out a raven to see if he could find dry land, but he came back. Then I sent out a dove, but he came back. Then a few days later I sent out another dove, he never came back. There was dry land at last.
Finally after being on the ark for more than one year, we got to get off the ark. The earth looked so different so empty. It was good to see the sun again.
I built and altar and thanked God for keeping us safe. God promised He would never destroy the whole earth again with water. He sent a beautiful rainbow in the sky to remind us of his promise.
I am glad I obeyed God or else I wouldn’t be here telling this story today.
Teacher:
-Did you know the ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high? That means it was longer than a dozen big school buses and taller than the BCC. Noah had to follow God’s exact rules when building the ark. Who thinks that would be hard?
-God gave Noah the strength to follow all His instructions even when
-He was tired
-He was soar from working hard
-Others made fun of Him
-He didn’t feel like it
God will give us the strength to obey His rules and instructions if we ask Him
Have all the kids say “Good-bye” to Noah
Pledge: (Have all the kids stand up and raise their right hand. Have them repeat after you) I promise to do my best to obey rules, especially God’s rules. I will listen to and do what I am asked to do. I will respect those in charge of me
