Make sure the card is big so your fingers are not in the way.

Discussion:

Introduction:
Everybody say, “God is good.”

Everybody say, “All the time”

When I say, “God is good” you say, “all the time.”

When I say, “all the time” you say, “God is good.”

If God is good, who is evil.

Satan is the evil one.

God is good.

The devil is bad.

1. Sin is dangerous.

-Who can think of something dangerous? (let kids offer suggestions)
-Who can think of something dangerous that does not appear to be dangerous to some people? (a shiny knife to a baby, cleaners to a little kid, medicine to someone who can’t read)
-These things are dangerous but may not look dangerous to some.
-Sin is dangerous just like some of the things we have talked about.
-Sin leads to death (The wages of sin is death – Romans 6:23) just like a knife could kill a baby, cleaners if swallowed could kill a child, and to much medicine could kill someone who can’t read.
-Satan tries to make sin look good, but it is a lie.
-Sin is bad and dangerous.

2. The devil wants to destroy you.

1 Peter 5:8 says, “The devil is your enemy. And he goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat.”

This verse teaches us that the devil is our enemy.

This verse teaches us that the devil run around like a roaring lion looking for people to destroy.

I would never want to run into a roaring lion –how about you?

The devil wants to destroy us just like a hungry lion.

The devil want to destroy us!!

(As you are emphasizing this point hold up one of the strong set traps with the card attached. When say the word “destroy” snap the trap by pulling on the card. The trap will probably jump out of your hand from the force so make sure you are back from the children.)

3. The devil destroyed Eve.

-God created a beautiful garden for Adam and Eve to live in
-God had only one rule for them to follow –they were not allowed to eat the fruit from one tree.
-There were probably thousands of other trees they could eat from –just not the fruit from this one tree.
-The devil destroy Eve by talking her into eating the apple.
-He was very sneaky.
-He made the fruit from that one tree sound like the best fruit in the whole entire Garden.
-He used words like “ Did God really say you couldn’t eat that fruit?”
-The devil put thoughts in Eve’s mind.
-The devil made the sin look very tasty.
-The devil made the sin look like it wasn’t dangerous or bad at all –until . . .
-Eve gave in. She took a bite of that delicious fruit.

(When you get to the part in the story just before Eve took the bite, hold up the weakened trap. When you get to the part where Eve took a bit of the fruit. With your hand in the trap, pull on the index card. The trap will not hurt your hand-it will snap a little. Act like it hurts-a lot!!!)

Conclusion:
-Boys, and girls, Satan walks around everyday looking for boys and girls he can destroy with the same lie that he destroyed Eve with.
-“It’s not really that bad to steal a candy bar from the store-you are hungry and there are fifty other ones. At least your not stealing money.”
-“My mom will be happy if I get a good grade-I don’t need to tell her I cheated.”
-“ God didn’t really mean I could say a couple mean words-besides at least I didn’t beat the guy up.”
-“Who’s going to know I took money from my mom’s purse?”
-Satan wants you to believe his lies. If you will believe his lies, then he can destroy your life.
-Satan is walking around looking for boys and girls he can destroy.

(Hold up the 3rd trap. When you get to the last point stick a pencil in the trap and push on the index card to set the trap. The pencil should break and the trap will probably go flying again.)

-We need to stay away from the evil one – Satan.
-We need to stay close to God because – GOD IS GOOD!!
