Introduction: Go over the 4 Most Important things

The Most Important Thing we will ever do in our life is to decide to live for Jesus.

When we decide to live for Jesus, he forgives our sins.

Skit:

Your volunteer should interrupt the class at this point with peanut butter and jelly all over their face. The children should react but if not the teacher can also react.

The teacher should act annoyed about the interruption.

When someone points out that the volunteer has a dirty face, he should deny it. The teacher could suggest they leave and go was their face. They refuse.

The volunteer should pretend to try and lick off the peanut butter and jelly. It does not come off.

Teacher – Well since you are not going to leave, then I am going to use you to help teach the children a very important lesson.

Lesson:

All this peanut butter and jelly on your face reminds me of something. It reminds me of sin. This peanut butter and jelly has messed up your face just like sin messes up our lives.

Even after we decide to live for Jesus, we can still have sin in our lives. We may still disobey want God wants us to do.

Now _____________ is still convinced that he has no peanut butter and jelly on his face. What will convince him he does?

A Mirror – if I show _____________ his face in the mirror, then do you think he will believe me?

(Show _______________face in the mirror – He should react)

A mirror reminds me of God’s Word or the Bible. As we read and learn from God’s Word we begin to discover sin in our life. We learn about things we do that make Jesus sad. Sometimes we do something and we don’t realize it is wrong until we read the Bible or learn from the Bible.

Just like this mirror reveals the peanut butter and jelly on ____________’s face, God’s Word reveals sin in our life- it reveals the things we do that make Jesus sad.

Now ____________ I think I have just the solution for you.

(Hold up a washcloth)

You can use this washcloth to wash off all the peanut butter and jelly off your face.

1 John 1:9 teaches us what will clean the sin out of our life.

When Jesus died on the cross, he forgave our sins, but as Christians there is something very important we must still do.

1 John 1:9 says, “ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Confess means “admit”

Conclusion:

When we realize that we have disobeyed God and messed up just like _____________face was a mess, then we need to confess or admit to God that we have messed up.

When we confess our sins, when we admit to God that we have messed up and we want to change – He will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
