1.Introduction:
Over the past several weeks we have been talking about how Christians should live – qualities we need in our life once we have decided to live for Jesus.

Who can name some of these qualities?
-Love others
-Forgive others
-Be honest (don’t lie)
-Use self-control
-Be Holy (stay away from sin)
-Obey God
-Perseverance – keep on going and going and going – never give up- keep your eyes on Jesus no matter what

2. Object Lesson:
Today I brought a box of cereal with me. Who like Fruity Pebbles? I know this is Pastor Eric’s favorite cereal. Pastor Eric I wanted you to be able to enjoy a bowl of fruity pebbles right here in Kidz Club.

(Allow Pastor Eric to pour the bowl of cereal. When he pours the cereal dog food comes out instead. He should get upset about it. This is just another one of your silly jokes etc. )

Pastor Eric – I admit – I tried to fool you today. I tried to play a joke on you on purpose today.

You know, what a lot of us do the same thing to God. We try to fool God.

We try to fool God by looking good on the outside. This cereal looks good on the outside. Pastor Eric even you thought so a few minutes ago.

We try to fool God by looking good on the outside – going to church, giving the right answers at church, giving in the offering etc . . .

Pastor Eric I might be able to fool you because you can’t see inside the cereal box but NOBODY can fool God.

God sees what is inside of us.

You might be able to fool Miss Michelle or Pastor Eric by acting a certain way around them. You might be able to fool us because you don’t get “caught” when you do something you shouldn’t

Remember – you can never fool God. God knows all about us.

The Bible says that . . .
God knows when we sit and when we stand up
God knows when we lay down and when we get up
God knows our thoughts and the words we speak before we speak them
God knows everything about us.
There is no place we can God to hide from God

Conclusion: If we are going to say that we are a Christian then we need to act like a Christian. We need to. . .
-Love others
-Persevere
-Forgive others
-Obey God
-Be honest (don’t lie)
-Be holy
-Use self-control

3. Quality: Spend time with God

Before we go today Pastor Eric is going to tell us about another thing we must do as a Christian. Before he starts I brought something else for him. . .

(Put a bottle of Ketchup on the table. Pastor Eric should act very confused about the ketchup. What is this about? It has to do with what he is about to teach.)

Bible Verse: Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3

God’s Phone Number – Prayer

You need:
telephone

Discussion:
-What is this? (Telephone)
-Who likes to talk on the telephone?
-When you call a friend and it rings and rings and rings what does that mean? (No one is home)
-When you call a friend and you get a busy signal what does that mean?
(They are talking to someone else)
-In order to call your friend on the phone you have to know their phone number.
-God has a phone number too
-It’s a secret – it is Jeremiah 33:3

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”

-Now you can’t really call God on the telephone but you can call God.
-How do you call God? (Prayer)
-The great thing about calling God is that He will always answer.

Now would you mind explaining to me what “ketchup” has to do with prayer?

Michelle: hold up the bottle of Ketchup. What is this called?

We need to take time to KETCHUP with God everyday.

Pastor Eric when you and I haven’t seen each other all day what do we do? We talk. We Ketchup on everything that is going on.

Let this remind us that we need to KETCHUP with God everyday.
