Strength In Unity

Verse: …if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven. Matthew 18:19
Props:
String
a bundle of several straight sticks
scissors
Instructions:
Select a number of sticks so that when they are bound with string they cannot be broken. Bind them together.
Discussion:
1. When two or more believers come together and pray, they create a powerful spiritual force. Read Matthew 18:19.
A. Jesus said that two could pray with added power
B. We are stronger when we stand together that when we stand apart (use the sticks to demonstrate that they can’t be broken as long as they are together)
C. When we stand together, it is difficult for the devil to overcome us.
2. Satan cannot destroy a work of God from the outside.
A. God’s people are stronger than Satan and all of his angels.
1. We have a stronger word than Satan’s word - the Word of God
2. We have a stronger spirit than Satan’s spirit - The Holy Spirit
3. We have more help then Satan has - only one-third of the angels followed Satan
B. Satan cannot destroy a home, business, or a church by attacking it from the outside.
3. A house divided against itself cannot stand
A Satan uses a sower of discord to separate brothers and friends
B. (Cut a piece of the string that holds the sticks together)
1. The sower of discord may seem to be kind and warm, but his intention is deadly.
2. The sower of discord uses flattery to sell his viewpoint to others.
3. He wants to turn people against each other
(Continue to cut strings)
B. When brothers and sisters in Christ are separated, they are easily broken.
(Separate the sticks and begin to break them one by one)
C. We ought to be wary of anyone who tries to separate us from our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Closing: Pray the prayer of agreement with any of the children who have prayer requests.
