A picture that is drawn by the teacher and is really messed up

Discussion:
Introduction:
-Who likes to draw?
-Who would like to be an artist one day?
-Who thinks they can draw really, really good?
(Pastor Eric should be thinking he is a great drawer. He has a piece of art work in the back room he would like to show us. Finally agree to look at Pastor Eric’s art work. He should brag about how wonderful it is.)
-Point out some of Pastor Eric’s mistakes in his “wonderful” picture.
-Have some of the children point out some of the mistakes in the picture.
(Pastor Eric should be defensive of his art – “There is nothing wrong with flowers on the roof or the sun on the ground etc…)
Discussion:
-Who would agree that Pastor Eric’s art work is pretty messed up?
-This reminds me of something
-It reminds me of our life when we try to live it without Jesus.
-When we try to live life without Jesus our life gets all messed up-like this artwork.
-When we try to make decisions on our own and do things without Jesus we are going to do stupid things just like putting flowers on the roof or the sun on the ground.
-It doesn’t matter what you do with your life-whether you stay home and take care of your kids, whether you become a doctor, a teacher, work in Wal-Mart -Whatever you do and where ever you are-you need to let JESUS guide your life.

-End by going over this verse with the kids in several different voices.
