What do you do for Easter?
What are some of your favorite memories about Easter?
Today I am going to use this piece of paper to show you something very
important we need to remember about Easter.
(Hold up piece of paper)
1. Some people think Easter is all about family
(As you are talking fold right corner so it is along the left edge of the paper. Then fold down the left corner so it looks like a house)
Talk about traditions at Easter with the family
Dinner
Easter Egg Hunt
2. Some people thing that Easter is for having a really fun vacation.
(As you are talking fold the paper in half so it now looks like an airplane)
Some families save their money really hard all year, so they can get on an airplane and go on a vacation.
Who has ever gone on a really fun vacation?
Where did you go?
3. What is the real meaning of Easter?
The Eater Bunny is fun
Easter Egg hunts are fun
Family dinners are fun – and yummy
Vacations are really fun
None of these things have to do with the real reason we celebrate Easter.
Who can tell me why we celebrate Easter?
(As you are talking cut about ½ inch along the longest side. Take the thin piece of paper and open it into a cross)
4. Review the Easter Story
-Jesus was arrested
-Jesus was beat
-Jesus was tried “Everyone was yelling “Crucify Him”
-Jesus was hung on the cross
-His last words were “Father Forgive Them-they don’t know what they are doing.”
-Then 3 days later, He rose from the dead
-Why did Jesus go through all this – For you- You deserved this punishment for your sin – He was punished when he died so you didn’t have to be.
