Introduction:
-Today we are going to talk about loving Jesus.
-We use the word love in so many ways in our lives that I wonder if we really know what it means.
-For instance:
-I really love your hair
-I really love pizza
-Don’t you just love that new TV show
-I love to watch The Rock wrestle.
-I love Ketchup on my peanut butter sandwiches.
-I love you (to friends, family members, spouses)
-What is true love?
-What does it mean to love Jesus?
-How do you know if you truly love Jesus?
Expressing Love
One thing we can know for sure is that it is always good to tell people how much you love them. I thought it would be fun to do that.
For example: Have Emilie come to the front. I love Emilie because she is my daughter. I am going to tell her how much I love her.
(I love you so much. My love for you is as deep as the ocean and as mushy as day old oatmeal)
I wondered if anybody else wanted to express their love to someone. If nobody wants to you could have Miss Carmen come to the front and then choose people to express their love to her.
-Who agree with me that it is important for us to express our love? We know when someone loves us because they express their love to us?
-How can we express our love to God?

Here I have a rock. Who loves my rock? What could you use this rock for?
Right now I am going to express my love to this rock. (I love you so much. I love the way you hold my paper down. My love for you outnumbers the stars in the sky. The day you came into my life you changed me forever.)
Get volunteers to come up and express their love to the rock.

The reason I had you express you love to this rock is because this rock reminds me of a lot of people. This rock reminds me of how people respond to God’s love.
God loves us so much. He expressed his love to us in many ways. Who can think of some? (Creation, through Jesus, taking care of us, protecting us, giving us the desires of our heart)
The reason a lot of people remind me of this rock is this: Did this rock respond when I told it how much I loved it? NO. Many people never respond to God’s love.
A very important part of love whether it is love between two people or our love for God is how we respond to love.
If I told Pastor Eric everyday that I love him and if I did things everyday to express my love for him, but Pastor Eric was like this rock how would I feel?
God tells and show us His love everyday. His greatest expression of love was when He sent Jesus to die in our place and take on our punishment for the bad things we do, but everyday most people forget to respond to God’s love. How do you think God feels about that? Sad.
How do you think we can express our love for God? How can we show God that we love Him?
The Bible says that we can show God we love Him by obeying His commands.
Conclusion: Don’t ever become like this rock. Remember to express your love to others and most importantly to God everyday.
