Introduction:
-Who likes to drink pop?
-What is your favorite flavor?
-Today we are not going to talk about pop we are going to talk about something completely different but I am going to use this can to help me.

We have all been crushed
-As long as we are alive we will have to things that cause us problems in life
-Sin and disappointment
-With sin - we not only have our own sin but the sin of others around us to deal with
-Sometimes the sin of others cause great disappointments in life
-Sometimes things just don't go the way we thought our would like them to.
-Name some sins that are easy for you to get involved in
-Gossip
-Name calling
-Arguments
-Disobeying parents
-Sometimes so much of this is going on around us, we feel like our world is caving in on us - or like we are being crushed (begin to crush the pop can)
-Can anyone relate to that?
-Name some things that disappoint you:
-Not making a sports team
-When your friends talk about you behind your back
-Your parents don't allow you to do something
-You don't do good at school on a test or assignment
-Someone says they are going to do something with you and they don't
-When these types of things happen to you feel crushed (crush the can some more-be careful not to bend the can in half or rip gaps in the can)
-All these things we have talked about can affect our lives - our relationship with God and others, and how we look at ourselves.

God has a plan

-You could look at this pop can and think that it is now useless - we should just throw it in the garbage
-Maybe this is how you feel sometimes - "I am useless - just garbage."
-No matter what we feel like or look like God has a special plan for our life.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

-God has a plan for you
-You may not see it in the middle of feeling like garbage.
-You may not see it when you are disappointed and feeling crushed

-God has a plan to restore you (use the pencil and begin to restore the can)
-You might feel all broken and used but God can doesn't look at you that way

Conclusion: Have kids think of things in their life that have disappointed them and made them feel crushed. Pray for restoration. Pray that everyone will know and follow God's plan

* If there is time you could divide in groups.
1. Have the kids take a few minutes to share something that has "crushed" them.
2. Have the kids pray for each other - That they will have the strength to follow God's plan
