How To Be Happy

Verse: Happy is the person who doesn’t listen to the wicked. He doesn’t go were sinners go. He doesn’t do what bad people do. He loves the Lord’s teachings. He thinks about those teachings day and night. He is strong; like a tree planted by a river . . .Everything he does will succeed. Psalms 1:1-3
Props:
Flowers divided into 2 bundles
2 flowerpots
2 watering cans
Slush powder
Instructions:
Discussion:
-Everyone wants to be happy – Raise your hand if you want to be happy
-Today we are going to learn the secret to being happy
-Read Psalm 1 and put it up on an overhead
-The Bible gives us a lot of information in these few verse about what to do if you want to be happy
-I am going to try and explain it in a simple way to you today
1. What does it mean to be a happy person?
-A happy person is someone who is successful in their life
-They are moving ahead
-They are prosperous
-They are blessed by God
-This verse compares a happy person to a strong tree
-We can’t plant a tree in Kidz Club, but we can plant some flowers
-Today we are going to plant some flowers and learn an important lesson about how to be a happy successful person
-In order for flowers to grow, produce flowers or fruit, they need to be planted correctly. They need to be standing up tall in the ground, so the roots can do their job and provide food for the plant
2. What to do if you don’t want to be successful?
-We are going to try and plant these first flowers and while we do we will talk about how not to be successful
-If you want to be unsuccessful and unhappy:
(Hold flowers in pot, add a little water with each point you talk about. At the end let go of the flowers. They should plop over. There were not successfully planted)
1.Listen to wicked (bad) people.
2. Hand out and go places with sinners
3. Do what bad people do
4. Ignore and don’t do what God teaches in the Bible
5. Stay away from church, and Kidz Club
-If you do these things you are guaranteed to live an unsuccessful and unhappy life.
-Let’s look at how these flowers are going to grow (Let go and they should plop over)
3. What to do if you want to be Happy?
-We are going to plant this next bunch of flowers and see what happens when you decide to be a happy and successful person.
-Here are the things this verse teaches us you must do to be successful:
1. Do not listen to wicked people – people who are not living for Jesus
2. Stay away from places where there are bad thing being done
3. Do not act like bad people – Who do bad people act?
4. Go to church and Kidz Club and learn more about the Bible
5. Love and do what you learn
6. Think about what the Bible teaches all the time in every situation, and then act accordingly.
-If you do these things the Bible guarantees that you will live a happy and successful life. The Bible guarantees you will go forward in your life even when those around you are not. The Bible Guarantees that God will provide, take care of, and bless you even if those around you are struggling.
-Let’s look at how these flowers are going to grow (they should be standing straight up and down)
Conclusion: Boys and girls, this really isn’t a new lesson. It is really the same thing I teach you over and over and over again. When you are too old for Kidz Club or if you move away I don’t ever want you to forget how important it is for you to decide to live for Jesus. Then once you have decided to live for Jesus, every single day of your life do your best to walk, talk, and live like Him. If you want to be successful – Walk, talk and live like Jesus.
