Introduction:
-A couple weeks ago we started talking about Proverbs 3:5. Today I want to continue.
-Once you decide to live for Jesus, the most important lesson for you to learn is how to trust Him with all your heart.
-Everyday of our life we need to place our trust in God
-What does it mean to trust in God? –
-To lean on
-To put your confidence in
-To rely on

We need to completely rely on, lean on and put our confidence in the Lord everyday of our life.

-We need to trust God when we face big things in our life – what school to go to, what God wants me to do with my life, money for a missions trip
-We need to trust God in the small every day things – who to hang out with, family situations, tests in school

We need to do what God tells us to do

Object lesson:

-In order to put our complete trust in God we need to let go of some things in our life.
-It can be difficult to let go of things
-What are some things you think we need to let go of so we can trust in God?
-What people think of us
-Worry
-Sin and bad habits on our life

-Today I brought this cup on a string. (One end of the string should be a china mug, the other a metal washer. The string should be about 3 feet long. Hold a dowel under the string close to the cup)
-Now what do you think is going to happen when I let go of this string?
-It looks like when I let go of this string that this cup is going to fall to the ground and smash.
-When we have to let go of things in our life it often looks like we are headed for something terrible. It looks like we are going to have a disaster.
-It can be scary to let go of things in our life too.

Let go of the string – the cup is still held up by the dowel

-The cup didn’t fall
-When we trust God, we won’t fall. When we obey God, He will watch out for us. He will protect us. He will keep us from falling.

Conclusion: We need to put our trust completely in God. We need to rely on and lean on God everyday of our life. God will keep us from falling if we do.
