Introduction: Have a smelling contest. Blindfold a few people have them smell different scents and see if they can tell you what the smell is.
Discussion:
-Smells can be good bad, strong, sweet or very faint. Our sense of smell brings us lots of information.
-What are some things we can learn or know from our sense of smell?
-When dinner is cooking
-When a baby has a dirty diaper
-When something in the fridge has gone bad
-When dessert is in the oven
-When the house is clean
-Smells give us specific impressions about things
-For example a person:
-If a person smells good what do you think?
-If a person smells like sweat what do you think?
-A house could smell like: cleaners, mold, food, a certain spice
-The Bible tells us in the New Testament that Christians have a certain smell
-The Bible teaches us that we are to God the aroma of Christ
-What do you think this means? Should we all wear the same cologne?
-Should the smell of a Christian be good or bad?
-What do you think Christians should smell like?
Conclusion:
-Just like a steak on the grill or a cake in the oven would attract a hungry person our “scent” as a Christian should attract other people to Christ.
