Discussion:
Introduction:
-For the past few weeks we have been talking about how important it is for us to put our trust in the Lord.
-What does it mean to “Trust in the Lord’?
-What can God do in a situation if we trust in him in that situation?
-When we decide to put our trust in God, He fills us with His power.
-When we try to live without Jesus in our life, it is hard.
-It is hard to do what is right
-It is hard to make the right decisions
-It is hard to be happy
-When we decide to live for Jesus and put our trust in Him-Jesus fills us with power!
Object Lesson:
-Let me show you what I mean – Here is a regular bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper.
-There is nothing special about this bottle of Dr. Pepper.
-When we decide to put our trust in Jesus – Jesus moves on the inside of us
-Jesus then is living on the inside of us.
-Jesus living on the inside of us gives us power that we never had before.
(Drop the mentos in the Diet Dr. Pepper)
-In order for us to have Jesus power in our life, then we need to put our trust in Him.
Why do we need God’s power in our life?
-God’s power in our life helps us to live right and make good decisions
-God’s power in our life helps us get through difficult situations we need to face
-God’s power in our life fills us with happiness and peace, so we don’t have to look for these in other things like drugs, drinking, smoking, relationships, and gangs.
Conclusion: We all need God’s power in our life. If we want God’s power in our life then we need to put our trust in Jesus. Pray for situations the kid’s need God’s power in their life.
