Verse: Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
"Do not change yourselves to be like people of this world. But be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you. And you will be able to know what is good and pleasing to God." IBC Romans 12:2
Props:
2 cup - not see through
Sponge
Water
Ice
Instructions:
Before class begins, glue with water proof glue 1-2 sponges on the bottom of a cup. Pour water in the cup that does not have a sponge. Make sure the water will be all absorbed by the sponges. Do not put too much water in the cup. Put ice on top of the sponges.

What does this verse mean? There are a lot of big words on it.
Do not be conformed but be transformed.
1. Do not be conformed to this world.
This means that we should not change ourselves to be like other people, especially people that do not live for Jesus.
It is easy to become like the people you hang around.
It is easy to pick up bad habits and start doing things that your friends do, even if you don’t want to do these things.
The Bible warns us not to change to be like others.
We must not start doing things that others do.
For example - cuss, fight, name-calling, gossip
2. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Transformed means to change completely
(Hold up the cup)
Inside this cup I have water. I am going to show you exactly what it means to be transformed.
(As you are talking, pour the water slowly in the cup with the sponge on the bottom)
You see, when we decide to live for Jesus, we need to change completely.
The way we think should change. The way we act should change. The way we speak should change.
We need to be different from those around us.
(Pour the ice cubes out of the cup with the sponge. It looks like the water was changed into ice)
Just like the water I had was completely changed, we need to be completely changed.
We need to become a different person.
Everyone around us should notice that we are different.

When we read the Bible, we change the way we think and act in our life

4. We can know what is good and pleasing to God.
A lot of people want to know - What is God's will? How do I know I am pleasing Him?
When we read the Bible, we will know what is good and pleasing to God.
