Introduction:
-One of the most important things we in our relationship with God is pray.
-When we decide to live for Jesus, He becomes our best friend.
-Who has a best friend besides Jesus?
-Who would agree that you spend a lot of time together?
-A lot of people have a difficult time spending time with Jesus
-They don’t know how to communicate with Him
-I think people make it out to be harder than it is.
Bible Verse: And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
-This verse tells us we need to pray
-On all occasions
-With all kinds of prayers
-We need to keep on praying
Object lesson
-Sometimes people do not take much time in prayer because they don’t know what to pray about.
-Let’s say you start to pray (Pour first time.) You pray only for what you need–like help on a test a school or healing from your cold. That might take you about 5 minutes. Then you think,
-"Now I’m stuck. I don’t have anything else to pray about."
-Prayer is not just asking for things. Neither is it something you just do in an emergency or at meal times.
-So How can we pray continually? I mean what do you have to say to God
-So let’s find out how to pray continually, pray everywhere, pray always, pray on all kinds of occasions by thinking of what kinds of ways you can actually pray.
-What does this verse mean by "all kinds of prayers"
-When you pray, you should also take time to listen to God (Pour second time.) Remember, you should never have a conversation with God without listening.
-When you pray, you should praise God by telling Him how great He is. (Pour third time.)
-When you pray, you should take time to sing to God, like the songs you’ve been learning here at church. (Pour fourth time.)
-When you pray, you should thank God for helping you and answering your prayers.
-When you pray, you should also pray for other people’s needs–just like you want them to pray for your needs. (Pour fifth time.)
-When you pray, you also need to pray in the Spirit, the heavenly language God gives you. You see, if you take time pray all the different ways that you need to pray, it will be easy to pray all throughout the day.
-If fact, you find that you’ll want to keep making more time to pray about more things.
Conclusion: How do you pray always, continually, everywhere, on all occasions? By remembering to pray for what you need, listen, praise God, sing to God, thank God, pray for others, pray in the Spirit.
