Lesson:
Have you ever tried to fit something in a box that was too small to hold it? Maybe you wanted to wrap a gift for someone, but you couldn’t find a box that would hold your present. Many you needed to mail something to someone, but you couldn’t find a box to fit what you had to mail. That is frustrating!

Do you know what else is frustrating? – Trying to fit this rock inside this box. It doesn’t matter how hard I try I cannot fit this rock inside this box without breaking the box.

God says that some people have a heart like this rock. Some people have a heart that is hard like this rock. They won’t do anything God wants them to do. They want to do what they want to do. They sin all the time. They hate people and they hate God.

God says he will take out our stubborn hearts, and give us a new heart. When we decide to live for Jesus, He takes out our old heart that doesn’t fit properly, and He gives us a new heart.

When I think of the new heart that God gives us I think of this sponge.
1. This sponge is soft like our new heart is soft towards God and others.
2. This sponge can be shaped just like our new heart is shaped the way God wants us to be. (Shape it to fit in the box).

11. Lesson – Part 2

Story: There was a guy in the Bible who had a heart of stone, and then He changed and asked God for a new heart. His name was Paul.

Who has ever heard of Paul? He was probably one of the most famous Christian just after Jesus died. Before He decided to live for Jesus did you know that he hated Christians. He would help find them. He would help torture them. He would help kill them.

Then one day God spoke to Him. It changed his life forever. He was on his way to a city called Damascus. God spoke to Paul. Right there on the road Paul decided to live for Jesus. Paul asked God to forgive Him for the bad things he had done. God gave Paul a new heart.

Conclusion:
We need to decide if we want to have a heart like this stone or a heart like this sponge. God does not force us to have a heart like this sponge it is our choice.

If we want a heart like this sponge then we need to ask God to forgive us for having a heart of stone. We need to decide to live for Jesus. Then God will give us a new heart.
