Introduction:
(hold up the bowl)
-What is this?
-What are some uses for this bowl?
-Today we are going to learn a very important lesson from this bowl.
-Believe it or not bowls and people have some things in common.
Object Lesson:
-The only thing you can pour out of a bowl is what you put in it.
-I cannot take this bowl and pour popcorn out of it because there is no popcorn in it.
-I cannot take this bowl and pour a cake out of it because there is no cake in it.
-If I pour candy into this bowl, then what can I pour out of the bowl?
-If I pour pickles into this bowl, then what can I pour out of the bowl?
-If I pour peas into the bowl, then what can I pour out of the bowl?
Discussion:
Our minds remind me of this bowl. Whatever we pour into our minds is what will come out of us.
What are some things we could pour into our minds –good or bad?
If we pour sports into our minds, what we going to talk about?
If we pour music into our minds, what are we going to do? (Walk around singing)
If we pour gossip into our minds, what is going to come out? Gossip
If we pour cursing into our minds, what is going to come out? Cursing
If we pour God’s Word into our mind? What is going to come out?
What we put in our minds, determines what comes out of us and how we act.
How do we get God’s Word in our mind?
-Go to church
-Go to Kidz club
-Read our Bibles
-Listen to Christian music
Conclusion:
If we are going to act like a Christian then we need to put our focus on and fill our mind with God things. We need to make good choices about what we are going to put in our mind.
