Paper Towel tube
Tape
Piece of paper
2-3 books
Instructions:
Discussion:
In our own Strength we can do nothing
-Today I want to show you that I can make this piece of paper hold up 2-3 books
-This piece of paper all by itself doesn’t have strength to hold up books
-Just like we don’t have strength to live all by ourselves.
-We need Jesus strength when to help us everyday of our live.
Jesus gives us strength to live different.
-Jesus gives us strength to do things in our lives that may seem hard to do all by ourselves.
-He gives us strength to honor God when nobody else will.
-He gives us strength to be respectful when all we want to do is beat someone up
-He gives us strength to tell the truth even if it means we may get in trouble
-He gives us strength to use self-control so we choose to do what is right in all the situations we face in our life.
Demonstration:
-Let’s see how this works. (You need a paper towel tube and a piece of paper)
-This tube represents Jesus (You could write that on the tube)
-This piece of paper represents us.
-When we decide to live for Jesus, Jesus comes and lives on the inside of us (Wrap the paper around the tube and tape it.)
-Now I’m going to stand Jesus and us up on this table.
-There we are Jesus living inside of me.
-Watch what happens when I pile books on top of Jesus and me. (Pile 3 books)
-These books are like pressures and situations we face that are not easy
-Peer pressure
-People who are mean to us
-Opportunities to disrespect God
-When Jesus is living inside of us we can stand up to these pressures and temptations because He gives us the strength to.
-Now lets look at what happens if Jesus isn’t living in us and we are trying to live a good life without him.
-Remove the paper from the tube and stand it up all by itself.
-Start to pile books on it.
-We can’t live right all on our own. We need Jesus help.
-We need Jesus living in us so we can face temptations and pressures. (Repeat object lesson.
2. Conclusion:
-The Bible says we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
-First we need to decide to live for Jesus so He is in the inside of us strengthens us.
-Who hear has decided to live for Jesus?
-Maybe there are some kids here and you have never decided to live for Jesus – You want to be strong. Today you can decide that you are going to live for Jesus.
-What does the Bible say in Jeremiah 3:33 “Call on me and I will answer you.”
-We all have Jesus strength inside of us.
-We need to call on God everyday and ask Him for that strength to live differently.
