Discussion:

Introduction: Today we are going to do a taste test. We are going to have 4 brave volunteers come to the front. You will be blind folded. Then you have to tell us what tastes better - the item in bag #1 or the item in bag #2.

Game:
Directions: Have 4 volunteers come to the front. Blindfold them. They can sit in chairs. Explain that you are going to give them something out of bag #1. They have to take a bit of it and try it. They have to tell you what it is. Then you will give them something out of bag #2. They have to try it. They have to tell you what it is. The also have to tell you which bag tastes better.

Discussion:
-Ask the volunteers- What is the difference between the crackers?
-What did you like better?
-Take a class vote on these things:
-Who likes salt on their French fries?
-Who likes salt on their eggs?
-Who likes salt on their macaroni and cheese?
-What else do you like salt on?
-What does salt do? Makes things taste better.

We need to be Salt

"You are the salt of the earth." Matthew 5:13

"Have salt in yourself, and be at peace with each other." Mark 9:50

-Jesus tells us in these 2 verses that we "are the salt of the earth," and we should "have salt in our life." What do you think this means?
-Jesus wants us to make the world and people's lives better - just like salt makes food taste better.
-How can we make people's lives better? By introducing them to Jesus
-Jesus has made our lives better. We should want the same for our friends and family.

Conclusion: This commandment Jesus gave really goes back to the point that everything we do in life should point to Jesus. (Use the stiff rope) It is important for us not to get focused on other things that would keep us from following Jesus. Everything we do should point to Jesus. If everything we do point to Jesus that we are obeying Jesus commands. If everything we do points to Jesus, then we are staying away from sin. If everything we do points to Jesus, then we are the salt of the earth.
