Verse: These people show honor to me with words, but their hearts are far away from me. Their worship of me is worthless. The things they teach are nothing but human rules they have memorized. Matthew 15:8-9

2. Real Christians Verses Fake Christians
Today I brought some flowers to help with this illustration.
Fake flowers
-Look nice but not as nice as real
-Don’t grow
-Don’t die
-They are not alive
Fake Christians
-Look nice on the outside but their hearts are a mess
-Don’t grow closer to God –have no relationship with God
-They can’t truly worship God because they are not “Alive”
-Have all kinds of rules but never really follow them
It’s all about appearance !! They try to look like a Christian but they aren’t!!
Real Flowers
-Alive
-Need care
-Real inside and out
-Will die
-Will Grow
-Can Reproduce
Real Christians
-They are spiritually alive because they have a relationship with God
-Their heart is right with God
-Their hearts are close to God – inside and out is the same
-They can truly worship God
-Their relationship with God will die if they do not take care of it
-Their relationship with God will grow if they feed it
-Real Christians reproduce other Christians by telling others about Jesus
Conclusion:
-We need to decide if we are a fake Christian or a real Christian.
-Remember with fake Christians it is all about appearance
-When you are a fake Christian
-Your hearts are far away from God
-Your worship is worthless
-The Word of God is like worthless rules in your life
-If you think you might be a fake Christian – you can change
-God is only interested in real Christians
-God is interested in people whose
-Hearts are close to Him
-Who worship him
-Who live by the Word of God – it is alive and active in their life
