The Red Balloon
Miss Michelle walks in holding a red balloon.
Miss Michelle: Over the past few weeks we have been talking about the things we need to have inside of us as a Christian.
Does anyone remember the first 2 things we have talked about?
-Love
-Self-Control
Today I want to talk about a third thing we need to have inside of us. I am going to use this balloon to teach you about this third thing.
Here I am at the front of Kidz Club holding onto a red Balloon. What a nice red balloon this is. I could use it for a birthday party. We could play a game with it. We could decorate something with it.
Pastor Eric: Hello Miss Michelle! What are you doing?
Wow – I love your green balloon.
Miss Michelle: Pastor Eric the balloon is not green. It is red. I am holding a red balloon.
(Pastor Eric and Miss Michelle get in an argument about the color of the balloon)
(Antoine walks to the front)
Antoine: Hey Miss Michelle nice yellow balloon!
Miss Michelle: This is not fair. Are you guys ganging up on me. My balloon is red. Did you decide to cause problems for me today while you were riding the bus? Don’t you have anything better to do?
(Antoine goes back to his seat)
Antoine: Hey Miss Michelle I really like your orange balloon.
Miss Michelle: First it’s green, then its yellow, then its orange. Would you make up your mind! Would you face the truth? THIS BALLOON IS RED
(Emilie stands up from her seat and walks towards the front talking.)
Emilie: Hey mom! I just want to let you know that is a really nice blue balloon. I love blue balloons and that is the nicest blue balloon I have ever seen.
(Pastor Eric and Emilie start to discuss and argue about the color of the balloon. See from this angle it is green – no it is blue – actually over here it is pink etc. . .)
Miss Michelle: Stop IT ! This is my Kidz Club lesson. This is my balloon. The truth is that this balloon is RED.
Pastor Eric: You know what that balloon is red.
Miss Michelle: No I’m confused. Now you are admitting I was right.
Pastor Eric: No! Red is convenient for me. So I’m going to say that balloon is green.
Emilie: I hate red so that balloon is blue.
Miss Michelle: Wait a minute! You can’t just make something up that is not true. Get out of here.
(Pastor Eric and Emile exit as they do they state the color of the balloon – green and blue)
Miss Michelle:
Boys and girls, you know what!
The truth is the truth whether you believe it or not.
The truth is the truth even if everyone else around you is saying something different.
The truth is the truth even if you are trying to tell others another story.
Not matter what others say, no matter what you say, no matter what you believe, no matter what you tell others the truth is the truth.
When we decide to live for Jesus we must decide to be truthful people.
We need to decide to always tell the truth in every situation we are in even if it means we could get in trouble.
