Bible Verses about the tongue: The Bible has a lot to say about our tongues and the words we speak. Let me read some verses to you:

“Whoever of you loves life and desires to seem many days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies”

“He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend”

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight.”

4 things the Bible Compares the tongue to:

1. The bit in a Horses mouth – that is how you steer a horse

2. The rudder on a ship or a boat – steers the whole boat

Our tongue determines the direction of our life.
-When does your tongue steer you off coarse?
-How can you use your tongue to go in a good direction?

3. The spark that causes a forest fire
-It only takes one little spark to set a fire
-It only takes 1-2 little words to cause a huge problem
-When can your tongue cause a forest fire?

4. Animals (birds, reptiles, fish)
-Men can tame wild animals
-We need to tame our tongues
-When do we need to tame our tongues?
