Discussion:

1. God created all living things with the ability to reproduce.
A. When God made the animals, He gave them the power to recreate themselves. Because of this it is possible for the number of animals to grow. Animals were created to reproduce their own kind. (Cats have baby kittens; cows have baby cows etc . . .)
B. God gave this same power to human beings.
C. God also created the plants to reproduce. What if a fruit that God made could not reproduce itself? We would run out of that kind of fruit. (Bring out fruit samples. Have 1 child come forward for each piece of fruit and see who can eat their piece the fastest-like a contest)
D. By giving mankind the ability to reproduce people, animals, and plants, God shows us that He wants us to have a full supply of all the things we need.

2. Every living thing in the earth reproduces itself with seeds.
A. God told Adam that all living things increase by planting seeds. (Gen.1:29)
1. If we want to grow and apple tree, we must plant an apple seed. (Hold up an apple and an apple seed)
2. If we want to grow an orange tree, we must plant an orange seed. (Hold up and orange and a seed)
B. The seed has a genetic code inside to recreate the plant it came from. Apple seeds cannot produce orange trees, and Orange seeds cannot produce apple trees.
C. Though a seed may remain unplanted for many years, it does not lose its power to produce. Wheat seeds from ancient Egyptian tombs have been known to produce wheat after 3,000 years. The seed is under orders form God to do the work it was created to do

3. The seed must be planted to grow.
When a seed is planted (sown) it disappears from view. A seed will not grow unless we plant it in soil. (Use the cup of soil and corn seed to demonstrate) If a seed is removed from its soil again and again, it loses its power.

4. The seed will multiply itself many hundreds of times if it is allowed to grow.
A. When a seed grows and produces fruit, there are many more seeds in the fruit. (Use the kernel and the ear of corn to show this)
B. Seed time and harvest (When the fruit is ready to be picked) is based on increase not just replacement. A farmer does not plant seed to only get back the same amount that he planted. He wants more, so he can survive and sell his fruit.
C. Everyone who sows seed should expect to receive a crop just like a farmer expects to receive a crop.

5. We should obey Jesus when He tells us to give.
A. Jesus told the rich young ruler to give away all his possessions. This young man loved money and things more than He loved God. He knew that something was missing from his life. He asked Jesus to help.
B. Jesus loved the young man. He did not want the young man to be poor. He just wanted the young man to trust in God and not in his money.
C. The young man did not listen to Jesus and walked away. He did not understand Jesus was trying to make him richer. If the young man had given his money as Jesus instructed, it would have been like planting money seeds. The young man would have received untold good things in this life and even greater treasures in heaven.

Closing: Talk about the memory verse. When we give of our money, time, toys, etc . . . God will give back to us. Pray with the children.
