Introduction:
Today we get to see where math is in the Bible, and we will see what happens
when we do math God’s way.

Story of Feeding 5,000

Jesus preached all day long to a huge crowd out in the middle of no place. When it came time for everyone to eat, Jesus didn’t want to send them away hungry and tired for their long walk back home. Jesus told the disciple to feed the crowd. This seemed slightly impossible. All the disciple could find was a little boy with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

(Hold up “-“)

1. The disciples took the 5 loaves and 2 fish from the boy. When we give to God it costs us something. We have to give something.

(Hold up “+”)

2. Jesus added the boy’s offering to the resources of heaven. Jesus prayed and gave thanks for what he had to give.

(Hold up “division”)

3. Jesus had everyone sit down and divided what he had among the people.

(Hold up “x”)

4. A miracle happened at this point. God multiplied what the little boy had given. In the end the disciples and Jesus collected 12 baskets full of bread and fish that were left over.

Conclusion: When we give to God, God takes our offering adds it to the resources of heavens, divides it where needed and multiplies what we give so that we receive back from Him.
