Discussion:

-Once we decide to live for Jesus it is really important that we stay away from certain people.
-(Hold up 2 balloons with string – the strings are tied at the end)
-This balloon is someone who likes to sin (Write sinner on the balloon) What kinds of bad things would a person like this do? (Write some of the sins on the balloon)
-This balloon is me (Write “me” on it)
-Sometimes we want to hang around people who do all kinds of bad things because we think we like them, or we think we want to be like them. (Hold the balloons by their string-they should touch)
-When we decide to live for Jesus we really shouldn’t hang around people who like to sin.
-We need to stay away from people who like to sin. (Rub the balloons on your shirt or head and then hold them from the string- the static should keep them apart)
-Have a volunteer hold your balloons

-Do you know what happens when we hand around people who sin? (Hold up a piece of paper with black wet paint on it)
-The bad things that they do start to rub off on us. (Rub a clean piece of paper on the paint)
-Before you know it you will begin to sound like them and act like them.
-It is impossible for you to change someone who likes to sin but I will guarantee you that they will change you if you hang around them.
-So always remember that if you want to live for Jesus that you need to stay away from people who are always doing bad things.

Bible Story: Noah

Introduction: Today I want to tell you two short stories about people in the Bible who had the opportunity to hang around people who liked to sin.

-Everybody knows the story of Noah’s ark.
-Who can tell me about it? (What happened first, second etc . . . Let the kids tell you the story)
-Something that a lot of people don’t know is that when Noah was alive the Bible says that everyone else was very wicked. There were lots of people doing lots of bad things.
-God was so sad with all the bad things going on that is why he decided to send the flood.
-God wanted to get rid of all the sin from the world and start over.
-Noah and his family were the only people who did not get involved in the sin.
-Since Noah and his family decided not to hang around people who sin all the time, their sin did not rub off on them
-God chose to use Noah for a very important job – to build the ark that was going to save of the animal and Noah and his family.
-Noah helped God start the world over again.

Daniel
-Daniel was taken away from his home, family and friends.
-He became a slave.
-He was lonely and needed a friend –Meshach, Shadrach, Abendigo
-The King decided to train all the young men to work.
-The king gave all the men special food and drinks-not pleasing to God.
-Daniel and his friends decided to stay away from the bad food the king offered.
-The king allowed the 4 men to do this.
-Because they obeyed God, Daniel and his friends were stronger, and healthier than all the other men in the kingdom.
-It is good to have friends that love God and will encourage us to do what is right.

Conclusion:
When we decide to live for Jesus we need to decide to stay away from sin and to stay away from people that sin. It is not an easy choice to make. Actually sometimes it seems easier to hang around our friends that sin. God will give us the strength to make the right choices. When we decide to do the right thing God can use our life to do exciting things for him.
