Jesus wants our future.
-Who has ever thought about what they want to be when they grow up.
-What do you want to do?
-Lots of people put lots of pressure on us about the future.
-What high school are you going to?
-What college do you want to go to?
-What do you want to become?
-Jesus has a plan for our future.
-We need to give Jesus our future, and do what He wants us to do.
-Our future is not just about what we are going to do when we grow up, our future is about tomorrow and the next day and the next day.
The future is important
-When I graduated from High School – God told me to go to Bible School.
-It was a good thing I did because that is where I met Pastor Eric (but I didn’t know what my future was when I went to Bible School)
-Pastor Eric and I got married. We didn’t know that we would end up in Buffalo. We started our life in Mississippi. God told us to go to buffalo. It was a good thing we did because that is where we started this church.
-When we started the church we were meeting in a hotel and then another church. We didn’t even think about this building. Then one day the building we were meeting in started to fall apart in a bad storm. It was a good thing because if it hadn’t we wouldn’t be here at the Buffalo Christian Center.
-Then ten years ago in the summer we started Kidz Club. It’s a good thing because the summer program led to the After School program.
-Then six years ago we started the After School program and because of it here you are today.
-We might not know everything about our future. God does. God has a plan for our lives. He wants us to follow it-step by step.
-God will show us his plan a little at a time
Following God’s Plan is like baking cookies.

The recipe on an overhead
Cookie ingredients and other ingredients
Helper-preplanned
Bowl
Mixing spoon
Michelle: Today I baked my favorite chocolate chip cookies. Pastor Eric you can try one. They are the best in the world. Pastor Eric our world famous chef is going to teach us how to prepare these cookies. As he follows the recipe step by step we will learn a very important lesson.
In order for these cookies to turn out perfect we need to follow the recipe step by step. In order for our lives to turn out the way God wants we need to follow God’s plan step by step. We need to give God our future.
(Put the recipe on the overhead. As I do Pastor Eric should begin throwing a couple ingredients in the bowl without following the recipe)
Pastor Eric – did you not hear what I said? You need to follow the recipe step by step. You can’t do what ever you feel like. The cookies won’t turn out then.
(Pastor Eric should throw in a couple secret ingredients when I am not looking – we will start by reading and adding the ingredients. Michelle will look in the bowl and discover Pastor Eric is not following the plan)
Pastor Eric why do you insist in not following the plan. Now you have ruined the cookies. These cookies won’t turn out the same. Pastor Eric if you don’t follow the plan the cookies won’t turn out.
You have taught us something – if we do what ever we feel like we could mess up our lives and God’s plans too.
Conclusion:
God wants our future. We don’t know what the future holds for us. We do know this. God has a very important plan for all our futures. God wants us to follow His plan for our future. We can do that by deciding to live for Him today and everyday.
