2. Trust in the Lord
-When we decide to live for Jesus we need to trust Him with all your heart.
What does this mean?
Trust means – to have complete confidence in
Object Lesson:
Choose a volunteer to stand on a chair at the front. Have them stand backwards on the chair and then ask the audience what would happen if the person fell backwards. They would fall and hurt themselves. What if someone stood behind them? Would that person catch them?
The volunteer on the chair would be putting their complete confidence and trust in the person standing on the ground to catch them.
Demonstrate
Just like this volunteer put their complete trust and confidence in
________________, God wants us to put our complete trust and confidence in Him
3. With All Your Heart
-It is easy to trust God with some of your heart.
-We can trust God when we are at church or Kidz Club.
Demonstrate giving Pastor Eric “some” – Give him some of your drink. Give him some of a snack.
-This is not what God wants. He doesn’t not want some of your heart.
-God wants us to trust in Him with all our heart
4. Let Go
Object lesson:
-In order to put our complete trust in God we need to let go of some things in our life.
-In order to trust God with all of our heart we need to get rid of some other things that we are keeping in our heart.
-It can be difficult to let go and get rid of things
-What are some things you think we need to let go of so we can trust in God?
-What people think of us
-Worry
-Sin and bad habits on our life
-Friends and bad influences
-Anger
-Hate and bad feelings towards people who have hurt us or disappointed us
-Today I brought this cup on a string. I am going to show you what happens when we let go of things so we can trust in God with all our heart
(One end of the string should be a china mug, the other a metal washer. The string should be about 3 feet long. Hold a dowel under the string close to the cup)
-Now what do you think is going to happen when I let go of this string?
-It looks like when I let go of this string that this cup is going to fall to the ground and smash.
-When we have to let go of things in our life it often looks like we are headed for something terrible. It looks like we are going to have a disaster.
-It can be scary to let go of things in our life too.
-Sometimes it is more comfortable to hold on to worry, anger, hate, and sin.
-This is not God’s best for us.
-God wants us to let of everything that keeps us from trusting in Him with all our heart.
(Let go of the string – the cup is still held up by the dowel)
-The cup didn’t fall
-When we trust God, we won’t fall.
-When we obey God, He will watch out for us. He will protect us.
-He will keep us from falling.
Conclusion: If we are really going to live for Jesus, we need to put our trust completely in Him. We need to rely on Him everyday. We need to let go of things in our life that keep us from trusting in Him with all our heart
